Introduction to the home site for the Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction. It has been our goal to stage Hawaii 's best quality surf auctions. With the best items on offer and to make them certainly the most fun gatherings possible. We are proud to have staged three very successful biennial surf auctions in 2001, 2003 and 2005. Our next auction is scheduled for July 20 & 21, 2007 in Honolulu , Hawaii.

Besides the auction itself, the secondary reason for staging these events is to bring together surfing's characters, craftsmen, legends and the hero's of our sport. Last year saw the biggest gathering of shapers ever brought together in one place. In attendance were the likes of: Matt Kivlin, Joe Quigg, Dick Brewer, Greg Noll, Charlie Galanto, Bing Copeland, Ben Aipa, Bob Sheppard, Bob “Ole” Olson and Tom Morey. Surf stars of the 60's included: Rusty Miller, Joey Cabell, Fred Hemmings, Ricky Grigg, Jock Sutherland, Buffalo Keaulana, Henry Preece, Felipe Pomar, Ray Beatty, Peter Cole and Rabbit Kekai. The 70's were represented by the likes of Jeff Crawford, Peter Townend, Larry Bertlemann and Rory Russell. Surfer/artists such as John Severson and Mike Doyle were in attendance, as was Hollywood star Don Stroud. The gathering of surf talent alone is what sets the Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction apart from all others.

If you would take a moment to peruse through the listings from the previous auctions, you will find, photos, descriptions and the final results of all the auction items from each of the various years. This is somewhat of a unique, one-of-a-kind site, that is not only informative but a great source of pricing, information and gives you a “feel” for those interested in the surf-collecting hobby.

Surf auctions are a growing trend with superb events produced by Allan Seymour on the West Coast. A number of East Coast events have catering to the right coast. Down under, Mick Mock in Sydney and the Noosa Surf Festival in Queensland have staged events. In addition, events like Cruz Nobleza's Island and Beach show featuring surf, skate and Hawaiiana helps to fuel the interest in the hobby.

We are currently in the process of gathering items that will be offered in the 2007 auction. Should you have a board, surf art, Hawaiiana, or any other surf memorabilia that you feel would compliment our next auction, we are currently seeking consignments. All boards on offer are either in “all original” condition, such as the wood boards, or they will be subjected to the “3 R's”, that is repaired, refurbished or restored. So they are ready to be displayed with pride or taken out and surfed! Due to the amount of work that goes into prepping each item, we need a two-year window to get everything ready. Thus, the reason for the auction held every other year. Please feel free to contact us directly if you have an item to offer, you have a question about an item you own, if you want an appraisal for future sale or you are just curious as to the value of a surf collectable in your possession.

We will begin to update the site approximately six months prior to the auction, with items that will be on offer and other information about travel to Hawaii, accommodations and events that will take place in and around the auction. Three months prior to the auction, we will begin to place our popular “Peek of the Week”, which will feature auction items.

We want to give a special thanks to John Severson and Gerry Lopez for the usage of their likeness and imagery for the new poster design.  We also want to give big thanks to Buzz Hansen for artwork.

Thanks for taking the time to visit our site and be sure and check back as we get closer to the 2007 auction itself.

Aloha,

Randy Rarick, Event Producer
