Aloha and welcome to the Quiksilveredition Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction for 2007. For those of you who have participated in our previous auctions in 2001, 2003 or 2005, we welcome you back! For those who are new to our website or the auction we say “Mahalo” for joining us. The auction this year is scheduled for July 20 and 21, and is sure to be the best yet! Take a moment and read the “Introduction” section, as it recaps the highlights of our last auction and gives you an overview as we look forward to this year's event. With a few months to go, we are currently fine-tuning our offerings and still adding to the list of auction lots that will be made available. At this stage, we are still taking quality consignments, so if you have a board, surf art, Hawaiiana, or any other surf memorabilia that you feel would compliment our offerings, please feel free to contact us immediately. We anticipate finalizing consignments as of the middle of June. One of the exciting additions this year will be free “Antique Road Show” type of appraisals. This will take place on Friday the 20 th of July, from 12:00 am until 4:00 pm. For those in Honolulu, you will be able to bring in any and all surf related items for free appraisal and valuation by a panel of six experts on everything from surfboards, surf books, surf posters, surf art and any other Hawaii or surf related memorabilia. The top five items will then be placed as last minute additions to the auction line-up! Of course there will be a number of social gathering in and around the auction itself. The pre-auction party at Duke's in Waikiki is always a blast. We anticipate a special guest presentation to take place prior to the auction and of course all registered bidders will receive passes to the Hawaii All Collector Show 2007 that is run in conjunction with the Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction. For those who will not be able to join us in person, we will once again be having “proxy” bidding for the “Silent Auction” items and a return of “LIVE” bidding over the Internet for the “Main Auction” items, courtesy of Live Auctioneers and eBay Live Auctions. We will have details here on the site in the coming months for bidders attending in person as well as registering as an absentee bidder. Please check back on a weekly basis starting in April, as we will have the return of our popular “Peek of the Week” section. This will feature a rotating section of auction items as they are added to the roster. We anticipate having the complete catalog of items up on site within two weeks prior to the start of the actual auction.
