Velzy Balsaused in"Ride the Wild Surf" & "Gidget" 9'1" 1951 (8) (Set of7 items)
This is part of the Velzy made, movie set boards. Originally a Velzy "Rope Logo" balsa, which in itself, is extremely rare, it somehow got in the hands of a Hollywood prop man. With four coats of paint, and a "Phil Surfboards" logo it re-emerged as "Eskimo's" board from the 1964 "Ride the Wild Surf" epic. It was later used by Sally Fields in the "Gidget" TV series. Extensive coverage of this board has been featured in "The Surfers Journal" as well as the Shiffer book, "Surfing". Comes withdocumented coverage from TV Guide, TV and Movie studio promo materials, lobby card, record, and decal. The board itself has been autographed by Dale Velzy, Kathy Kohner-Zuckerman: the "real" Gidget and Sally Field. Pre-auction estimate: $5000-$8000. Click here to Return to Program
