Aloha and Welcome to the 2009 Hawaiian islands Vintage Surf Auction.

This year’s Surf Auction is presented by Quiksilver “Premium”. Our goal is to stage Hawaii’s highest quality LIVE surf auction. We are proud to have staged four very successful surf auctions in 2001, 2003, 2005 and 2007. The 5th biennial surf auction is scheduled for July 17 & 18, 2009, once again at the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii.

Besides the auction itself, the secondary reason for staging these events is to bring together surfing’s characters, craftsmen, legends and the hero’s of our sport.   This is an unprecedented social gathering that is unlike any other auction on offer.  In years past we have seen the likes of: Matt Kivlin, Joe Quigg, Dick Brewer, Greg Noll, Charlie Galanto, Bing Copeland, Ben Aipa, Bob Sheppard, Bob “Ole” Olson and Tom Morey representing the golden era of surfboard manufacturing.  Surf stars of the 60’s have included: Rusty Miller, Joey Cabell, Fred Hemmings, Ricky Grigg, Jock Sutherland, Buffalo Keaulana, Henry Preece, Felipe Pomar, Ray Beatty, Peter Cole and Rabbit Kekai.  The 70’s have been well represented by shapers and surfers such as: Bill Barnfield, Chuck Andrus, Mark Richards, Peter Townend, Larry Bertlemann, Gerry Lopez, Terry Fitzgerald, Jeff Crawford and Rory Russell.  Surfer/ artists, such as John Severson, Mike Doyle have attended, as has Hollywood stars such as Don Stroud.  The gathering of surf talent alone always sets the Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction apart from all others.

Please peruse through the listings from the previous four auctions.  You will find photos, descriptions and the final results of all the auction items from the past.  This is somewhat of a unique, on-of-a-kind site, that is not only informative, but a great source of pricing, information and gives you a “feel” for those interested in participating in a surf auction and the surf-collecting hobby.

We are in the process of gathering items that will be offered in the 2009 auction.  Should you have a surfboard, surf art, Hawaiiana, or any other surf memorabilia that you feel would complement our next auction, we are currently seeking quality consignments.  All boards on offer are either in “all original” condition, such as the wood boards, or they will be subjected to the “3 R’s”, that is repaired, refurbished or fully restored.  We feel this way they are ready to be displayed with pride or taken out and surfed!  With the time it takes to acquire and rehabilitate all the boards, thus the reason for the auction held every other year.  Please feel free to contact us directly if you have an item to offer, if you have a question about an item you own, or if you want an appraisal for future sale or you are just curious as to the value of a surf collectable in your possession.

We will be updating the website on a regular basis between now and the start of the auction, with items that will be on offer and other information about travel to Hawaii, accommodations and events that will take place in and around the auction.  Also, we will be adding a new listing each week to our very popular "Peek of the Week".  For those of you making travel plans, we suggest you make your air bookings on Hawaiian Airlines, our official carrier.  Hawaiian Air will transport your surfboards for FREE, if you contact auction officials ahead of time with your confirmation code and itinerary.  For accommodations, we suggest the Outrigger Hotels group, for the very best in your Waikiki stay.  Click on the links page for connections.
