Aloha and welcome to the first Hawaiian Islands Vintage Surf Auction. It is my pleasure to put together, what will be Hawaii's first and certainly most unique auction of this type.
With Danny Brawner's efforts in the mid-90's, the exciting concept of surf auctions were launched. Allan Seymour's California auctions have set the standards and for the past six years he has presented showcase events. Mike Migliorisi followed suit and has brought class events to the East Coast for the last couple years. The Noosa Surf Festival in Australia has featured a popular auction as part of their activities. Now it is time for Hawaii!
It is my intention to make this not just an auction, but a happening social event, that is fun for all the participants. Whether you are here in person or following along "live" on the Internet. I am also proud to announce that this will be a benefit for the Hawaiian Lifeguard Association, Junior Guard program. A portion of the auction proceeds will go towards the ongoing summer training programs.
For those who can make it to Hawaii, Greg Noll Oceanwear will be graciously sponsoring a pre-auction party at world famous DUKE'S Restaurant on the beach in Waikiki. Special appearance by some of the Islands most famous watermen will help to welcome you in true Hawaiian style.
As an extra added attraction, the Surf Auction will be held in conjunction with the Hawaii All Collectors Show. This is an annual gathering of over 200 vendors featuring every kind of collectable imaginable. They have surf items, Hawaiiana, toys, furniture, you name it, and you can probably find it.
For those of you who can't make it in person, we will be featuring "live streaming" coverage via the Internet. You can follow along as the auctions progresses and even bid in advance for silent auction items.
The surf auction itself will feature a mix of surfboards, surf collectibles, art, Hawaiiana and other assorted items. The "silent auction" will feature lower priced items such as movie posters, magazines, Hawaiian nick-knacks, photos and unique surf items amongst other things. All items offered will have "a touch of Hawaii", to insure you can find something with an island influence.
So, we invite you to attend the first auction of its type. Come visit us in Hawaii and enjoy the warm Hawaiian hospitality. Travel packages have been made available courtesy of Outrigger and Ohana Hotels. Take a vacation, ride some waves, buy or sell some cool surf stuff and above all have fun! We look forward to welcoming you to our Islands!

Aloha, Randy Rarick
