"Peek of the Week" - Week 14
Balsa "Life Raft" Plank Board 8'8" 1950 (9r)
What a unique piece of equipment! Made in Waikiki in the early 50's and crafted out of pieces of balsa scavenged from a World War II life raft. Pieces glued end to end, to make up a balsa blank. Found in a warehouse on Sand Island, the shape while crude, has remnants of the plank era, with flat deck and rolled bottom and wood fin. Very early glass job, that has been sanded and restored to certainly much better than new condition. A great entry level balsa collectable. Pre-auction estimate: $1500-$3000. NO RESERVE
